Porting my phone number..the sage has ended?

I think I’ve finally managed to get my old phone number ported this morning, though we shall see cometh 1/8… The first hardship was actually getting a PAC code from CarphoneWarehouse. Phoned up last week to ask for one, they said it would be in the post. A week later, nothing (bearing in mind they are meant to give them to you within 2 days…) Phoned them up again, “Oh right sir, I can give that to you now if you like, grr!” Next challenge call Orange. Phone the number they give you, (0800 80 10 80) this seems to be some kind of sales line where they don’t deal with number porting at all. The only option that seems slightly relevant hangs the phone up… Finally speak to someone sensible who give me another number which seems to be unlisted anywhere where they actually do the porting. Useful, not. This is even after emailing Orange customer services to find out what number to phone (the one above apparently) but then they didn’t actually appear to read the email I sent them and just sent the usual form reply. Anyway, I should be ported on 1/8 between 11 and 4, so I wait with baited breath. In case anyone else wants to avoid this, the number to call to port your number to Orange (provided you have a PAC) is 0870 8708888.

Back home

Well, I’m now back home again after a week away in London at a Sun training course. Both myself and Darren were signed up on a intro to JES course, which actually turned out to be pretty good. I had some misgivings that it would be a bit basic, given that it’s aimed at people who haven’t really touched it but it turned out to offer some good ideas and demonstrate what can be done. It may have helped that there was only one other person doing the course other than me and Darren… Being in London turned out to be pretty cool too. Being a country kid I’ve managed to mostly avoid London, but thanks to some excellent tour guides (cheers Darren and Phil!) I’ve now managed to tick off pretty much every “must see” place. Admittedly most of these were only seen for about 4 seconds, but still, I’ve now “done” London :) The hotel was really nice and the rooms were airconned, which was great! Breakfasts were cooked buffet and entertainment was provided by Americans setting fire to the toaster. However the one time we had dinner there we had a rather surreal experience, so maybe eating out in the evening is best! :) Now I’m back home I’m working on spending the £21 of luncheon vouchers I have left (we got £7 a day for lunch!). Luckily Starbucks take them so I’m sure it won’t take long :)
